Church Profile

Introduction

Midway Baptist Church is a mission‑driven congregation rooted in more than a century of faithful ministry. Established in 1887, the church continues to honor its heritage while actively pursuing God’s calling to reach the community and the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are a church marked by strong, genuine fellowship—deep relationships that reflect our love for Christ and for one another.

History

The story of Midway Baptist Church began in 1887 when members of the local community sought a place to worship together. Early gatherings took place in an old store and later in the Zack Hines School building. During this time, Greenfield Baptist Church graciously received new converts until a permanent sanctuary could be built.

When two potential building sites were proposed and no consensus could be reached, the congregation chose a location “midway” between the two. This decision not only resolved the debate but also gave the church its enduring name.

Key facility milestones include:

  • 1952 — Construction of the current sanctuary

  • 1967 — Construction of the educational building

  • 2000 — Addition of picnic shelter and outdoor building

  • 2003 — Expansion and remodeling of the educational building

  • 2008 — Expansion and remodeling of the sanctuary, increasing capacity to more than 300

  • 2022 — Expansion and installation of Church Playground
